strawberries and comfrey

I put in the strawberries today and the one comfrey plant - we visited this evening and everything looked so wilty, so we gave them some water and will hope for the best!
(Dan is responsible for the fence and the prayer flags.  I told him he missed his calling as an interior decorator.  He corrected me - exterior decorator...)

Excuse my ignorance, but what is comfrey?

it's an herb! it has some medicinal properties - i don't think you can cook with it, but it has nice little flowers and is apparently a good fertilizer at the end of the season.

Strawberries...ooh. I have heard of comfrey tea, but I am under the impression that it could be bad for you? But I have also heard that comfrey is super good for your soil. So we should probably think about putting it in our little garden.

OK, so comfrey is NOT to be taken internally, as it can cause liver damage. However, it is good for bone ailments and "women problems"! Are you just suppose to smear it on???? However, it is very good for the soil and is a good fertilizer. So there. My lesson for the day!

Lisa - you're in Ohio! I somehow missed that when I visited your sweet blog! I'm aiming to post on the 100 species challenges...one of these days...

I'm loving the space too - thanks - just hoping we can successfully fill it with growing things! It's our first attempt at our own garden...wish us luck.
