A little further

These photos are from a hike on Sunday.  The girls and I get out two or three times a week for a lengthy walk in the woods, and I am starting to want to stretch us a bit further in our goals.  We don't really have peaks to speak of so I am looking for more subtle landmarks to shoot for.  This day we were just hoping to make it "further".
Eliza stopped to examine a few trees along the way - "I think they're willows, mama" - I think she's right.
The inevitable mud...
A hidden beauty (Jack-in-the-Pulpit)...

A little tree climbing...
We made it! Further! It's lovely to have a watery destination to look forward to.  And we've made a plan...tomorrow?  All the way to this creek bend before we stop for lunch, and then...Beyond!!  We've planned the menu (Mother Bars. Cherry Tomatoes. Cheese and apple sandwiches.), we've made the bars, the girls are sawing wood and after two days of lots of people (monday's choir and the park, and tuesday's yoga and park and groceries and library....ooof da!), I am looking forward to a day with Just Us.

Looks lovely.

Mud again. I really need to relax and let my little ones do this.

We need to drive to our woods and are going tomorrow. Will make a note to bring some plastic to cover the seats for the return journey!
