Old Man's Cave

This was going to be more than a photo essay of our family field trip, but I got totally sucked into catching up on my college roommate Mary's account of her amazing accomplishment in the Speight's Coast to Coast, running, biking and her husband and team-mate Brad kayaking across New Zealand...it was well worth the distraction.

So, our day started off early, with Ani in charge of the cheddar and apple sandwiches. We woke Papa and Eliza when lunch was packed and breakfast was ready.
(Yes, we loved how orange the lunch looked, packed into the cooler...)
Our destination was Old Man's Cave, in the Hocking Hills just north-west of us by less than an hour.  We were there a year ago, and the girls had been asking to go back, which Dan kindly agreed to, in spite of the workload already mounting...
Hams. Total hams. When we weren't yelling at them frantically for getting too close to the edge of the gorge, they were in heaven.  "Dad....I love you..."  "Mom....I love you too...."  The day got hot, especially when we crawled out of the gorge and into the 80-degree sunshine.  Ani's lunch...

...and the perfect good ending to an absolutely perfect almost-summery Friday morning.  With Dan.
