Friday My Town Shoot-Out: Feet...

Friday My Town Shoot-Out is a collaboration of people from all over the world who share photos from their communities, centered on a weekly theme.  This week's theme is Feet and Shoes, chosen by JarieLyn.
Who doesn't love a new pair of shoes?  Our house, normally shoe-free, especially during the slushy sloshy spring, tolerated some indoor wearing of the new shoes this spring...she was so very proud of her new "all stars".
See? Still on. Even in the living room, while working on her blanket...
Sister had a more, shall we say, artistic approach to having her new shoes photographed.  She is very attached to running barefoot, and these flip flops (the left one is Flip, the right is Flop; here photographed is Flop.) are about the closest she can get...
Of course it's now summer, and even beloved shoes don't stand a chance when it comes to Being Outside...

The last photo I have to share is not local, but a visiting pair of feet from this last year.  They are my dad's.  I love this photo so much; the sound of my dad's footsteps as he climbed the stairs to several apartments of my childhood is one the oldest sounds in my memory bank.  I can also spot my dad's distinctive footprint in the snow, or a wet print on a step...I sometimes wonder what small markers my children will carry with them into adulthood, what signifiers of their place in the constellation of their family and their life....Whew, that's a lot for one little photo, but I love those feet...
Please take a moment to have a look at how other My Town photographers interpreted this week's theme - I am never disappointed and am often quite inspired!!

There is really nothing like bare feet is there? Whether it is little girls' feet or grandpa's. I love that you included a memory of your dad's footsteps too.

I really like the story about your Dad and seeing he's feet. I love going bare foot too.

My favorite is (or are) your Dad's feet. And the naming of flip flops.

I like the last one too! I go barefoot too at home, shoes are strictly for outdoors. It's common Asian culture to go barefeet at home.

Great post. Loved the story of your dad to go along with a great shot. I go barefoot all summer in the house too, sometimes even outside.

here I am in my sixties and I still prefer bare foot. Camillo dispares because in friburgo and in Rio no matter how often you clean the floors - no matter how often the patio is washed down there are remnants of soil and smog residue that clings to my feet. As children we did not own shoes during the summer time, my parents bought only one pair of shoes a year for us, by summer they were always too small - so we ran free - and shoeless. One of the good things of life.
