sweetness and mischief

It is gloriously cool(er) here this week...thunderstorms arrived while driving Mormor to the airport on Friday, and they've been with us on and off ever since. It brings new energy and some peace to our days - the girls really come alive with a warm rain, which I blame on their being born in Seattle.  Then what's my excuse?? Anyway...today began with this sweetness...
I came downstairs (at 7:15) to find these two characters setting the table and laying out breakfast!
(Ani's singing)
Do you see the ribbons and scarves festooning the chairs? It was elegant.  After breakfast we got ourselves to the garden.  I have been wanting a cool morning to go and weed (oy! the weeds!) and had a plan to keep the girls engaged while I got some work done...they pretty much had it all figured out for themselves though, with the lovefest that was going on today...
(I am pretty sure this was either for my benefit or they were in character,
but either way, it was pretty sweet...)
There were wee carrots.
And some fairy mischief...
And in spite of my forethought and late-night planning - this idea for a scavenger hunt/bingo game came straight from those wonderful fundanas (you can find them here),  and though I'm sure mine was not as well-thought-out, it was really fun to make - the girls thought it was neat but they had really important work to do...
Mom, we dug out ALL of this dirt here! That's how we found the centipede (ah! so they did at least look at the game!)! And it was hard work, and when I go to switch my brain from digging to working in my book (drawing in her nature journal) it is really quite a hard shift to make. It's hard work. So I'm tired...
We found one or two critters together, and then headed home just as it started to rain...
The rest of the day just went, kind of like that.  Some anthropomorphizing of our carrots...
 Some drawing in nature journals...
A quick trip on some errands, and to see the doctor for a cough Eliza has but that is not slowing her down a bit...I ended my day and shared my supper with a couple of new characters I found on the street...
Hedgehogs, dontcha know.  (I'm told the little one is just shy, not sad...) It was quite the day.
