The Silver Baby Cup, or Golfing in the Woods, or Handsome People in Fancy Clothing

We called it "Occupy Moonville" but this tent city was the home base for our weekend of golf, at the Assissi Threepio Fourth Annual Silver Baby Golf Tournament.  Shoo, that's a mouthful...

It is an undertaking to give an accurate representation of the experience that was the Silver Baby Tournament, but I'll do my best! There was, of course, golf. With clubs and holes and all that. Pins and tees and "fore!" There were also hazards - like trees, brambles, ravines, powerlines, roads, ditches, firepits, small children, dogs, and too many cases of Schlitz. Are you with me?
Handsome hubby at hole #4, the Deathstar
I am amused by how many photos I have of golfers looking for their balls. Digging, bushwacking, clipping, ripping and swearing to find their balls.

looking...(this golfer took out a small bush clearing the path for his ball!)
This photo is a bit like Where's Waldo? - the hole is called Snake Canyon, and the goal is to tee off at one end, landing your ball on the other side of the canyon.  If you look really closely you can see a bit of Dan, down in the canyon, looking for his ball.
He is grinning because he found it and chipped it the hell out of the canyon!!!!!
He is also grinning because he is about to get the all-time Assissi Threepio course record!
RIGHT ON!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm sure it has not escaped you that my husband is incredibly handsome in his golfing garb...the fashion was amazing, the footwear delightful, and the characters charming...

a very judgemental judge
At the end of Day One, Dan was in heaven, having played his best ever, and scoring lower than any of his opponents in his team or the other 3 teams (18 players in all). It was a good good day...That night there was entertainment in the form of plays and music, and a spontaneous all-night Tom Waits performance by one of the judges, which some of us listened to from our chilly tents...and then there was Day Two - the Finals.
